ElmLeak helps homeowners in Little Elm and the surrounding area understand slab leaks, plumbing problems, and foundation care. We accept contributions from writers, plumbers, inspectors, and home maintenance professionals who can explain these topics clearly and honestly. If you can write a genuinely useful article for a homeowner facing a real problem, we would like to hear from you.
This page explains who can write, what we accept, and how to pitch. Please read the quality rules before sending anything, because pitches that ignore them will not receive a reply.
Who can write
You do not need to be a professional writer, but you do need real knowledge of the topic. Plumbers, leak detection technicians, foundation specialists, home inspectors, and experienced home maintenance writers are all welcome. What matters is accuracy and clarity, not credentials alone. If you have hands on experience with the topic you want to cover, say so in your pitch, briefly, so we can judge the fit.
Topics we accept
We accept articles on topics that help a homeowner understand, prevent, or deal with a home water or foundation problem. Good fits include:
- Slab leaks: signs, detection, repair options, and costs.
- Plumbing: supply lines, sewer lines, water heaters, and common household leaks.
- Foundations: soil movement, cracks, drainage, and maintenance.
- Texas home maintenance: seasonal care, clay soil, irrigation, and water damage prevention.
Articles must be written for homeowners, not for search engines and not for other businesses. A topic that only serves a company, a product, or a service does not fit here.
Quality rules
Every submission must meet these rules:
- Original work only. The article must be written for ElmLeak and must not appear anywhere else.
- Length of 800 words or more, covering the topic properly rather than padding it out.
- Genuinely helpful, not promotional. The article should teach the reader something useful, with clear decisions or actions they can take.
- Accurate claims only. Do not invent statistics, prices, reviews, or credentials. Anything you state as a fact must be verifiable.
- At most 2 relevant links, and only where they genuinely help the reader. Links must fit the topic naturally.
- No casino, crypto, CBD, or adult topics, and no content promoting those subjects in any form.
We edit accepted articles for clarity, structure, and house style. We may also add internal links to our service pages where they help the reader. The core ideas and accuracy remain the author’s responsibility.
How to pitch
Send your pitch by email to elmleak@gmail.com with the subject line “Guest post pitch” followed by your proposed topic. Your pitch should include:
- Your proposed title and a short outline of what the article will cover.
- One paragraph explaining why this topic helps our readers.
- A brief note about your background with the topic.
- Confirmation that the article will be original and written for ElmLeak.
Please pitch an idea first rather than sending a finished article. A short, focused pitch is easier to review and gives you a faster answer.
What happens after you pitch
Every pitch is reviewed by a real person. We read each one and compare it against our topics, our quality rules, and what our readers actually need. Only pitches that fit will receive a reply, so if you do not hear back, it means the topic was not a fit at this time. Please do not send follow up emails asking for a status update, and please do not resubmit the same pitch.
If your pitch is accepted, we will reply with next steps, including the deadline and any formatting notes. Acceptance of a pitch means we are interested in reviewing a draft. It is not a promise about the final article.
If you have a topic that genuinely helps Little Elm homeowners understand their home better, send your pitch to elmleak@gmail.com. We look forward to reading it.
